Nostradamus C6 Q48: The metaphor of desire in Wagner's Tristan & Isolde
Copyright: Allan Webber, December 2015, September 2022
This verse offers a further insight into how man fouls up the environment that
is essential to his survival. A similar tale can be found in
C6 Q46.
Each describes a metaphor that contains further material on a theme. Their
themes empathize with words sung by Iseult in the duet (Act 2, Scene 2) from
Wagner's Tristan and Iseult and fits well to the emotions bonding Henry IV
to his mistress Gabrielle d'Estrees.
BOTH
(Tristan & Isolde) Highest heaven's oblivion of the world!
Mine! Tristan / Isolde mine! Mine and thine! One for ever and
ever!
This duet is the motif for the trail of desire that flows throughout
this opera. In this verse a parallel trail of desire
relates to the issues behind our century's problems namely insatiable
human desire for goods.
The anagrams in this verse include ones for active path guides indicating that path is
the cipher for a particular theme left by Nostradamus. And that path
based on human desires is a
branch of the trail set by the trail for emotions.
Clustered in among the anagrams we see the type of event that we
of this century are becoming aware; it involves what we have taken to be
our unique brilliance and our hidden hubris that offsets our undoubted
gifts. This verse through text and anagrams recognizes that
knowledge of the elements allows mankind to enhance all sorts of
aspirations and yet the side-effects bring us to the verge of
extinction. The major side-effect that threatens us is mankind's
increased ability to survive but without consideration of the impact of
unrestrained population there is increased damage to our planet. It is
climate change and chemical pollution of the atmosphere that are the
factors raised in this verse but others follow as the trail unfolds.
