In this verse Nostradamus presents his view that diseases such as leprosy are a blight on the concept of Gods and Goddesses and that issues highlighting this failing will become more apparent at the time the Polestar reaches its zenith and Al-Gedi is in its most upturned phase.

The structural purpose of this verse is sensed by the anagrams in the second line which say poem-rules unleash debates (t De bas e_n hault e$leue promptement) + Europe lets debasement unleash (ement De bas_ en haul_t e$l_eue pro )
